History

New Plymouth High School Old Boys’ Rugby Club was founded in 1919 with headquarters at Vogeltown Park – 199 Carrington Street, New Plymouth.

NPHSOB rugby has a proud tradition of over 100 years of outstanding service and commitment to the sporting and social culture of New Plymouth, Taranaki and beyond. This record highlights many Taranaki, senior and junior championships, numerous trophies as the top Taranaki club and a huge contribution to provincial and national selections. The club is quick to recognise that this success is due to the passion and dedication of legions of club officials, coaches, managers, players and the community over the years. Because of our love of the game we have a desire to ensure that we remain relevant but also preserve the rich culture built up from junior club to high school and senior club.

We are fortunate to have a supportive base of volunteers, honorary members and a large following of loyal supporters and sponsors who firmly believe that society is a much more vibrant and inclusive place to live because of their dedication and belief in NPHSOB rugby. They are correct in this belief and see the rewards on the faces of young and not so young each week.
