The expected injection of assistance coaches for Phil Gard will be a huge bonus for this coming season. Ric Fabish and part time assistant Brad Bennett promise to add lots of experience and will help stretch the coaching concentration across Backs and Forwards. Blue Haddock returns as Manager in what should be an exciting season. Phil is back for his third season with the division one lads and hopes to build on last seasons attacking pattern with extra power in defence with a fitter team.
Its once again a strong looking forward pack to kick things off. The McKerrow brothers along with James Wilson and Jack Sigley return up front. Add to that young up and coming Hooker Devan Lewis who looks to push himself into the Premier squad. Gary Hofmans will lock the scrum alongside Gerard Millar and Bevan Lowl. Look to see Trent Sutton and Troway Hayes share 8 and 6 with a very keen Willie Lane expected back to contest the 7 jersey with Josh Smaller. New man Brian Rawlins from South Africa will be a Bonus with his size and skill and will cover all loose forward positions.
Halfback Ant Taylor is fit and keen and could definitely be one to watch this season. Two of the fittest squad members and pivotal to success will be Josh Rei and Matty Harrold. Cole Paulin looks to link up in the midfield with Jacob Winstanley. Pace and size dominate the back three with the ever young Levi McPhee returning along with Sam Wirangi and others from the premier squad when available.
Others that will assist when available from Premier duty include Caleb Ritai, Alex Patterson, Adam Smith and others. Jarod Ritson from the 20’s could play a part in the season for Division one.
Last years Captain Jamayn Kepa is struggling to return with work commitments with the Captaincy mantle for the 2020 season being passed to James McKerrow. Ant Taylor will once again deputise.
