Welcome to 2022

2022 has started with an amazing spell of weather but it won’t be long before we see a change of weather and the rugby posts being erected at Vogeltown Park.

The new year also brings a change to our board. I was elected Chairman at the last AGM and look forward to working with the Board, Coaches, Managers, Supporters, Players and their families during the 2022 rugby season.

We have a fantastic group of Board members with skills and roles that suit and benefit the governance and management the Club but we will need assistance for the week to week work load involved in running a Club with over 400 members. We have a position for a Rugby Manager whose role will be to liaise with the Coaches & Managers, working with the Rugby Development Officer (TRFU) and assistance in recruitment and development.

If anyone is interested or keen to assist in this role or any other roles around the club please contact me 027 445 4525 or keith@egmontseafoods.co.nz.

I look forward to kicking the season off but we also need to be mindful that COVID may impact the current draw and plans for the season. We will update Club members as this develops over the coming weeks but at this stage we are planning the season to start with a night game against Tukapa on the 8th April….probably at Sanders Park as we don’t think our lights will be up & running by then.

Read on to see an our update on our lighting project, information on pre-season training, and COVID-19 information.

Keith Mawson, NPOB Rugby Chairman.

LIGHTING PROJECT

We are excited to announce that after securing funding and finalizing plans, we will be breaking ground soon on our lighting project. It is important to acknowledge both our loyal club and funding sponsors, who without their generous support, we would not be in the position we are in.

Loyal Club Sponsors – PAK’nSAVE New Plymouth, BCD Group, Mark Newman Trust, and Warren & Claire Bolton.

Funding Sponsors – NZ Community Trust, Pelorus Trust, Toi Foundation, Aotearoa Gaming Trust.

We look forward to seeing the lights get installed over the coming months with the goal of these being ready for the early rounds in the season.

COVID-19 INFORMATION

The NZR have mandated COVID-19 vaccination passes for all 15-a-side teenage and senior rugby competitions.

This applies to players, referees, coaches, and management.

In line with this NPOB will be requiring vaccination passes for all pre-season training, matches & club events for U13’s and above.
